An Allusion to Systematic Obfuscations or ‘Propaganda’, on a World-Wide Stage.
If this crude, incomplete essay plows anyone else’s already planted field, or mocks authentic intellectual work of any sort, then it is offered with advance apology.
‘The Matrix’ is a film which depicts a bizarre world of happy & productive subjects manipulated by a regime of falsehoods, all supported by exotic technology to enforce uniform order among all, without a hint of question.
Our modern pan-cultural patterns are obvious, and perhaps mimic a Matrix of power, in light of world-wide results-in view of the concentration of power and wealth in the hands of individuals and organizations, in many ways superior to or with some degree of control over, the acknowledged governmental leaders of the organized nations.
Consider:
Conventional wars between nations & ethnic groups, protracted or incidental & quick,
Social Struggles, often non-violent, of petty conflicts, & point-specific actions against small targets such as places, people or institutions, which may be carried on by Extra-National Organizations (both governmental and the now infamous NGO, Non-Governmental) which carefully foment action, economic o&/or coercive ( extra-legal) which violates all boundaries, cultural and political, in the social & economic spheres of banking, industrial trade, quasi-movements (such as environmentalism & human rights), yield evidence of being run by very diverse yet similar Elites, who operate individually & especially jointly in groups of inter-locking loyalties (with underlying mutual support).
These elites’ public affiliations are badges of honor, for them, and easily seen to be in the manner of the 19th century style of American business monopolies, the ‘inter-locking’ directorates targeted by the Yellow Journalists and burgeoning ‘trust-busters’ of US government. Restive libertarian individualists have invented a short-hand set of acronyms for these elites and the structure of their cartel(s):
NWO-New World Order, TPTB-The Powers That Be, &etc, and both their process & product is often referred to as ‘Globalism’. Locus of the true central governance is debatable, variously seen as certain cities, the UN & its many affiliated organizations, the Bilderberg Group in its annual conclaves, the Tri-lateral Commission and the Council on Foreign Relations, as well as others. Organizations have recently advanced to a new form of combine, for co-operatives described simply as ‘public-private’ partnerships-effectively infusing them with a gravitas and a dual authority above reproach (negating the position of those who may argue against either basis-governmental or private).
The convenience of Marxist methodology is so useful, quite beyond all the old systems, for acquisition & centralization of power and money, that it now pervades virtually all political & social philosophy, spread via the academy above all. It thrives & is vigorously employed in every compartment of modern culture, whether fully industrialized or still undeveloped. The ordinary divisions of economic & the variety of social compartments of our culture (law, church, art, &etc) have become, of a purpose, almost entirely blurred.
Modern communication being instantaneous and powerful cartels so perfected, that the old historical chronologies of the ‘natural’ evolution of political systems have been compressed to highly predictable opinion manipulation schemes, carried on at nearly the speed of light.
If anyone should doubt the paradigm, then they may not have considered the possibility or probability which is apparent in the big picture, provided real-time, in full color by the Government-Media Complex.
The truth is in the headlines, and our greatest need may be to recognize & avoid the odd agendas which distract entire groups (employing natural, pre-existing divisions), causing factional strife and diversion of our attention. The diversity of actors and action multiply our divisions and we readily adapt the schemes offered in news media, & personal discourse as logical extensions of our pre-existing views. Our prejudices are the ready tool of our would-be masters.
Agendas employed against us (to confuse) include such classics as Anti-Semitism, poor vs. rich, and left vs. right (which is entirely real but is also employed to tweak sham arguments, such as the minutia of misunderstood social & economic theories). Newer agendas turn on popular constructs such as antagonisms made of esoteric & artful perversions of our very language. “Conspiracy Theorists” is a fresh & clear example which shows the lever being applied, forcing all to opposition mode. Any challenge to a predominate narrative which is unacceptable to the power structure, may be instantly degraded by this label, now in short-hand notation ‘CT’. CT persons are readily labeled with pejorative terms such as kooks, loons and efficiently made to appear extreme-with no rational basis for their question. The CT trick has become acceptable as a most popular form of ‘pseudo-intellectual’ debate in any public venue, supplanting all discussion with the condemnation of the mob. The power of the mob effectively shuts down anyone so labeled-instantly.
Additionally, fear has become both a tactic and a desirable goal of the elite power structure-for obvious reasons.
Thousands of instances of the manipulation of language exist, but the current crop are readily seen to have two primary origins-the ‘political correctness’ from the ‘cultural Stalinism’ of the old Soviet Union, and the phenomena of the ‘mass culture’ wherein all seek the norm, and despise the unusual. These are handy tools which work well together, for control of the masses-in a world where the elites may no longer rely entirely on the authority of presumed ‘royalty’ (with a historical basis), theological orthodoxy, or even popular, politically derived powers. The masses have become in the last several centuries so large and better informed as to challenge the authority of elites, by virtue of their mere existence.
